Gran Aventura jungle safari & boat ride

The most thrilling experience on the Argentine side of Iguazu Falls. Two adventures in one, running six times daily.

Step 1 — Jungle Safari on the Yacaratiá Trail.

The adventure begins with a departure from the Visitors' Centre, where you enter the jungle via the historic Yacaratiá trail aboard specially designed open trucks. Bilingual guides introduce you to the natural and cultural wonders of the region along this immersive 5 km journey. Keep your eyes open for toucans, monkeys, and native wildlife along the way

Step 2 — Speedboat Ride up to the Falls

The trail ends at Puerto Macuco, where you board speedboats that sail 6 km along the Lower Iguazu River toward the heart of the waterfalls, navigating lively rapids along the way. The highlight is the dramatic moment when the boat approaches the base of the majestic falls — including the powerful San Martín Falls — where you feel the full force of the water cascading around you. You will get soaked. That's the point.

Step 3 — Baptized by a Wonder of the World

The speedboat steers directly into the curtain of water at the base of the falls. Iguazu Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World — and in this moment, you are not watching it from a safe distance. You are inside it. The water hits from every direction. The roar is physical. It is one of those rare travel experiences that genuinely changes the way you understand a place — and yourself. Transformative is not too strong a word.

The Gran Aventura is the adventure tour that gets you closest to the falls — not from a walkway above, but from the river below. A carefully sequenced two-hour experience that moves from jungle to rapids to the base of one of the most powerful waterfalls on earth. Six departures daily mean it fits into virtually any itinerary.

A river on its own terms

The Iguazú River does not keep a fixed schedule. During low-flow periods — typically linked to seasonal drought or upstream conditions — the Argentine National Park may suspend the Gran Aventura boat ride with little or no advance notice. This means that visitors who purchase tickets independently online may arrive at the park to find the experience unavailable that day, with no guarantee of an immediate refund or alternative.

We mention this not to discourage, but because we believe the best travel experiences begin with honest information. When you visit with us, we track river levels before your trip, communicate directly with park operations, and build flexibility into your itinerary — so that whatever the river decides on the day, your experience of Iguazu Falls remains exactly what it should be: extraordinary.

NOT SURE IF GRAN AVENTURA IS THE RIGHT FIT FOR YOUR GROUP?

The experience requires participants to be able to:

  • Climb and descend up to 300 meters of stairs unaided;

  • Maintain balance on uneven, wet and slippery surfaces;

  • Withstand sudden impacts and strong water pressure;

  • Follow and relay verbal and visual rescue instructions under loud noise and low light;

  • Hold their breath under the mist of the falls;

  • Act with full physical and cognitive autonomy in a high-stress emergency scenario;

We're here to help you figure that out before anyone travels. If Gran Aventura isn't the right option, Macuco Safari — the boat ride on the Brazilian side — has no minimum age restriction and offers a similarly unforgettable encounter with the falls, with fewer physical demands. Get in touch and we'll find the best experience for every member of your group.

These restrictions apply under the regulations of the Argentine National Park and cannot be overridden on the day of the visit, regardless of individual circumstances.

What is the difference between Gran Aventura and Macuco Safari?

Both are boat rides under Iguazu Falls — but from different sides of the border. Gran Aventura (Argentine side) combines a jungle truck safari on the Yacaratiá Trail with a speedboat on the Iguazú River, and has a minimum age of 12. Macuco Safari (Brazilian side) has no age restriction and focuses on the boat ride under the Brazilian falls. Both guarantee you will get completely wet.
